In April 2018, the Board of Trustees for Massasoit Community College selected Dr. Gena Glickman to serve as the college’s sixth president. Dr. Glickman was confirmed by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education on June 19, 2018 and will be the first woman president to lead Massasoit Community College. Prior to Massasoit, Dr. Glickman spent the last decade as President and Chief Executive Officer at Manchester Community College in Connecticut.
With more than 40 years’ experience, Dr. Glickman has served in a variety of different roles within higher education. Prior to her presidency at Manchester Community College, Dr. Glickman served as the Vice President for Teaching, Learning and Student Development at Elgin Community College in Illinois. Dr. Glickman has also served as Associate Provost at the University of Baltimore, Assistant Dean of Career Services, and Dean of the College at Maryland College of Art and Design and has held faculty positions at Essex Community College, the University of Maryland University College, the University of Maryland, College Park, and at Goucher College in Maryland.
Dr. Glickman’s educational accomplishments include a B.F.A. in General Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art; an M.S. in Counseling and Education from John Hopkins University School of Education and a Ph.D. in Education, Policy, and Planning, from the University of Maryland College Park.
Dr. Glickman announced her retirement from Massasoit Community College in July 2020 and concluded her term as president in January 2021.
