Research Literature Reviews: Welcome!

This guide supports students conducting research literature reviews.

What is a Lit Review?

A research literature review is a systematic, explicit, comprehensive ,and reproducible method for identifying, evaluating, and synthesizing the existing body of completed and recorded work produced by researchers, scientists and practitioners p. 6

Objective reviews include a systematic, thorough examination of all sources with full explanation & justification of replicable method.

Subjective reviews do not clearly define inclusion methodology, give equal weight to all studies regardless of experiemental design,   lack comprehension, and can often result in false findings.

Experimental design is weighed heavier than observational studies within the review (p. 16)
