Writing and Research Modules in Canvas

The table of contents and links to videos for the the online modules (MLILM) hosted in Canvas that focus on research and writing skills.

Explaining the MLILMs

The Library and Writing Center staffs at Massasoit Community College, have developed a set of interactive Canvas modules that will help you incorporate information literacy into your course. These modules break down the research process into four distinct, student-centered sections:
>Reading the Assignment
>Picking Your Topic
>Locating & Evaluating Information
>Synthesizing Information

Each module contains multiple assignments that highlight different aspects of that concept. The first page of each module contains a detailed description of the content in each assignment.
In general, each assignment consists of:
>A short conceptual introduction,
>A 2-3 minute video,
>A related accountability measure often in the form of an online quiz or worksheet.

The modules/assignments are designed in small parts so you can choose where they will best fit within your course content.
Please note:
>All the items you import are unpublished, are assignments, and worth zero points. This is in order to alleviate confusion in your gradebook and give you control over how you use the assignments.
>When you import an assignment, you'll need to import the quiz or worksheet that corresponds with it.
>Take a look at the Importing Instructions in the first Module before adding content to your course.
> If you want ONLY a video, you can embed those directly from our YouTube Channel, which has playlists organized to mirror the modules layout we have here.

You do not have to import the course in order to view the content, but you do need to be added to it as a collaborator. We suggest to view the content in MLILMS first and make a list of what you want to import.

Simply fill out the MLILM faculty form to be added to the course.
