Library Support in Canvas

Like you, the Massasoit Librarians have been hastily strategizing the ways we can best support you and your students during this time of transition, stress, and uncertainty. While we are accustomed to operating online and navigating a variety of resources and interfaces, it is a different thing entirely to ensure you and your students are comfortable. With that in mind, we want to alert you to some specific ways your librarians are here for you, in Canvas:

MILM logoWe can embed any of our Information Literacy Tutorials into your course as your syllabus moves to the "Research Project" phase in the semester. There are modules that cover the basics of library database searching as well as concepts like the research process, the information cycle, specific kinds of research (primary sources, literature, etc), and synthesizing sources together. A librarian will work with you on identifying what might work best for your class and we can even embed them into your Canvas site.

You and your students have access to Films on Demand and Kanopy for streaming education video options. Embedding them in Canvas is no problem; reach out to the library or to online learning and we can help with that too!

  • To include films from Kanopy in your Canvas course, browse to the desired film in Kanopy. Under the film, click on the Share button. You can then copy the sharable link or the embed code, whichever you prefer.

How to contact the library:
1. Contact your
liaison librarian
2. If you are unsure who that is, email
askalibrarian@massasoit.mass.edu That is monitored by all the librarians and will then get to the right individual for your needs.
