The SIMBAD astronomical database provides basic data, cross-identifications, bibliography and measurements for astronomical objects outside the solar system.

NED is a comprehensive database of multiwavelength data for extragalactic objects, providing a systematic, ongoing fusion of information integrated from hundreds of large sky surveys and tens of thousands of research publications. The contents and services span the entire observed spectrum from gamma rays through radio frequencies. As new observations are published, they are cross-identified or statistically associated with previous data and integrated into a unified database to simplify queries and retrieval.

The NASA Space Science Data Coordinated Archive (NSSDCA) provides multidiscipline archive services, including an analog and digital archive from past NASA space science missions along with directories, catalogs, and access to widely distributed science data resources.

The SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is a digital library portal for researchers in astronomy and physics, operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) under a NASA grant. The ADS maintains three bibliographic collections containing more than 15 million records covering publications in astronomy and astrophysics, physics, and general science, including all arXiv e-prints.

To promote a world where research data is openly available, integrated with the scholarly literature, and routinely re-used to create knowledge. Their mission is to provide the infrastructure for, and promote the re-use of, data underlying the scholarly literature.

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) was founded in 1919. Its mission is to promote and safeguard the science of astronomy in all its aspects, including research, communication, education and development, through international cooperation.

The Astronomical Leagues objective is to promote the science of astronomy by fostering astronomical education, by providing incentives for astronomical observation and research and by assisting communication among amateur astronomical societies.

AMS purposes are 1.) To encourage and promote research activities of both amateur and professional astronomers who are directly interested in meteoric astronomy. 2.) To observe, monitor, collect information, plot and report on meteors, meteoric fireballs, meteoric trains, and related meteoric phenomena. 3.) To publish scientific materials dealing with meteoric astronomy. 4.) To publish a newsletter dealing with meteoric astronomy. 5.) To carry on any other scientific or public service activities relating to meteoric astronomy.

The Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers (ALPO) is an international organization devoted to study the Sun, Moon, planets, asteroids, meteors, and comets. Our goals are to stimulate, coordinate, and generally promote the study of these bodies using methods and instruments that are available within the communities of both amateur and professional astronomers.

The AAVSO is an international non-profit organization of variable star observers whose mission is to enable anyone, anywhere, to participate in scientific discovery through variable star astronomy. They accomplish our mission by carrying out the following activities: observation and analysis of variable stars; collecting and archiving observations for worldwide access; forging strong collaborations between amateur and professional astronomers; promoting scientific research, education, and public outreach using variable star data.
