By reading scholarly articles out of section order, you may find them far easier to understand.

  1. Think of your article as a sandwich with the "bread" being the top and bottom sections.
  2. Like a sandwich, the "bread" holds or gives context to the unwieldy contents of the inside, meaty stuff.
  3. Until you gain more experience reading these articles, a suggested order may look more like this:
    1. Abstract
    2. Introduction
    3. Discussion
    4. Materials & Methods
    5. Results
