On Thursday, April 7th, the library partnered with H&CA faculty members Mare Ambrose and Laurel Santini to host an open house for our refreshed and expanded children's literature collection in celebration of National Library Week.
Mare demonstrated some of the many way read aloud options available through YouTube and public library subscription services such as Hoopla and Kanopy. Laurel showed the group some read aloud techniques while reading Inside, Outside by LeUyen Pham.
We also had the opportunity to learn more about Read Happy, Mare's project that is working to bring books and pillow cases or blankets to children in need. More information can be found at http://www.facebook.com/Read-Happy.
Laurel's Children's Literature class worked to create a list of read aloud recommendations for the library. Copies are available in the Children's Area.
Thank you to Mare and Laurel for sharing their talents! We are looking forward to hosting another open house in the fall!
