New Books

PEAR Collection

The PEAR Collection (Popular, Enjoyable, Accessible Reading) contains both fiction and non-fiction print materials in a variety of subject matters to support our community’s emerging college readers. Some materials could be categorized as Young Adult, and include books that are well suited for students in pre-college level English and Academic ESOL courses.

Scheduling Library Instruction

The Massasoit Community College Libraries offer a variety of delivery mediums for faculty to incorporate Information Literacy into their classes including:

  • Classroom based instruction, in person or online
  • Individual appointments
  • Embedded modules in Canvas

Best practices show that library classes tied to specific assignments are better received.  Generally, we recommend tying the session to a specific course project/assignment(s) and/or learning objectives.

How to Schedule

  1. Contact your liaison Librarian or the Coordinator of Library Services via email or phone to confirm your time and type of session
  2. You are also free to schedule an appointment with your librarian to discuss the assignment and the goals for the library session

Ideally, classes should be scheduled one week prior to the library visit. Faculty must be present during an information literacy session.

During an instruction session, students may be asked to complete a brief instruction survey for assessment purposes.
